Stojan Batič: The Man and the Myth
Exhibition Catalogue
The catalogue accompanying the exhibition of Stojan Batič at Jakopič Gallery presents a newly reviewed overview of the artist’s oeuvre, highlighting its key works. All sculpture reproductions are presented within a unified aesthetic approach, with careful consideration given to the most effective viewing angles, even though there are usually many possible perspectives for each work. Through the two-dimensionality of photographic reproduction, the catalogue also aims to convey a sense of materiality, refined yet richly textured surface detail, and above all to preserve the feeling of the tectonic solidity of the sculptural masses and surfaces. The final section of the catalogue is rounded off by extensive reference materials that bring together the available documentation on the artist and his work.
