Accompanying the overview exhibition How to Dream Backwards? at the City Art Gallery Ljubljana, a comprehensive exhibition catalogue has been published, thoroughly documenting the forty-year artistic career of the academic painter Silvester Plotajs Sicoe. In addition to a carefully considered selection of artworks, the publication features expert texts by the curator, Dr Sarival Sosič, titled The World of Colour, People and Objects, and by the art historian Božidar Zrinski, titled Painting That Still Carries the Trace of the Human Spirit. The inclusion of Sicoe’s poetry, Pollock’s Dreams, adds a special expressive value to the catalogue, complementing the artist’s visual expression in a literary form. Thus, the catalogue serves not only as documentation of the exhibition layout but also as an in-depth insight into the artist’s achieved narrative maturity and his continuous search for a unique painterly language.
