This catalogue accompanies the exhibition of the same name, held at the City Museum of Ljubljana from 2 June to 20 September 2026. Through objects from the museum’s rich collection, this richly illustrated publication traces the history of the idea of spending the summer holidays by the sea – from the beginnings of seaside tourism before the First World War, through the interwar period, to its expansion after the Second World War. Barbara Savenc’s essay The Sea and Tourists offers an in-depth historical overview of this phenomenon, complemented by Ana Pokrajac Iskra’s contribution About the Sea, with the Sea and at the Sea. The catalogue makes for engaging reading for anyone interested in the cultural history of holidays, fashion and everyday life in Slovenia.
