Ivan Cankar: Vodnik po razstavi
Exhibition Guide
The museum exhibition marking the 100th anniversary of the death of the Slovenian writer Ivan Cankar was accompanied by a comprehensively conceived exhibition guide, offering deeper insight into Cankar’s life.
Through the exhibition guide, visitors are taken through the places where Cankar’s life unfolded and which profoundly shaped him: Vrhnika, Ljubljana, Vienna, Pula, and Rožnik Hill. Blaž Vurnik, the author of both the exhibition and the guide, described Cankar as follows: “He was a brilliant writer and storyteller, yet at the same time an everyman, burdened by fears, doubts, longing, and both flawed and noble motives. Fate and history placed him in a space and time that he constantly sought to diagnose. He held up a mirror to society and his contemporaries – one into which no one was willing to look honestly.”
