Knjiga. Znanje. Razum Od protestantizma do razsvetljenstva (1500–1800) [znanstveni posvet]
A monograph featuring contributions from the scholarly symposium held in conjunction with the exhibition Book. Knowledge. Reason.
The contributors are renowned scholars from various institutions, representing the fields of history, medicine, law, art history, linguistics and theology, ethnology, and the natural sciences. The monograph, edited by Mojca Ferle and Irena Žmuc, presents interdisciplinary insights into events, conditions, and processes spanning the historical periods between Protestantism and the Enlightenment, and offers new discoveries and reflections that shed light on the history of Ljubljana and Carniola in the early modern era. The number of online views of the live-streamed symposium and its recordings demonstrates that the topics were of interest to a broader audience as well.

Dr. Marko Štuhec introduces us, in this monograph, to the world of reason and the understanding of the world in the early modern period. At that time, knowledge evolved from a scholastic framework into a humanist one, further shaped and transformed by the model of the Scientific Revolution and the Enlightenment, which incorporated practical and technical forms of knowledge as equally important components, intended also for broader segments of the population.
The monograph presents new findings from the historical period of the early modern era. For example, Dr. Vincenc Rajšp argues that the first Slovene book was printed in Schwäbisch Hall, and not, as previously believed, in Tübingen. The volume goes on to discuss distinguished yet perhaps lesser-known figures from Carniola who contributed in various ways to European history and science, such as Herbard of Turjak, Jakob Schell von Schellenburg, and Janez Svetokriški, along with his significance in preaching, linguistics, and cultural history. In his contribution, Dr. Štefan Vevar also sheds light on key milestones in the history of theatre in Ljubljana.
