Ivan Hribar and the Bourgeoisie of Ljubljana
Exhibition Catalogue
The renovated Vila Zlatica in Rožna dolina, the former home of the renowned Ljubljana mayor Ivan Hribar (1851–1941), now offers visitors insight into the life of one of Ljubljana’s most beloved mayors and an introduction to the living culture of a Slovene bourgeois family from the early 20th century.
The exhibition catalogue was prepared by Dr. Irena Žmuc, who is also the author of the permanent exhibition at Vila Zlatica. The catalogue provides an overview of the construction and renovation of the house into the Hribar family villa, introduces readers to the key stages of Ivan Hribar’s life, and summarises the life of his daughter Zlatica Hribar, who bequeathed the family villa to the City of Ljubljana after her death. The second part of the catalogue presents an inventory and photographs of all the objects and spaces of the bourgeois villa: the entrance hall, staircase, library, reception room, bathroom, kitchen, dining room, white bedroom, attic, and shelter.
