Andrej Gaspari: The late 2nd century B. C. logboat from the Ljubljanica river at Vrhnika
Scholarly monograph
Study on the ships and boats of Preroman and Roman nauportus with the outline of the navigation on the Ljubljana marshes between prehistory and the early modern period.
This book is a fundamental and analytical publication on the logboat discovered in the Ljubljanica River at Vrhnika. It presents the history of research into the logboat, from its discovery, documentation, and protection to its eventual recovery from the riverbed of the Ljubljanica. The second part of the book consists of an analysis in which the author compares the characteristics of the Vrhnika logboat and situates it within the boatbuilding traditions of Late Prehistoric and Roman Emona. It also addresses navigation on the Ljubljanica River and its navigability during the Late Iron Age and the Roman period.
